What is CranioSacral Therapy?
CranioSacral Therapy (CST) is a non-invasive, hands-on healing practice that helps to release different blockages with in the body. This is done by focusing light pressure on points throughout the craniosacral system. This technique works to relieve pain, both physical and mental, by the practitioner working to realign the craniosacral system. CranioSacral’s are a proven treatment for children and adults with autism, ADD/ADHA and learning disabilities. It is also effective for people suffering from emotional trauma as well as many different aliments.
What to expect
In a standard one-hour session, the client will lie quietly on a table with all of their clothes on, while the practitioner makes light contact at selected points on the craniosacral system. CST is becoming more commonly known and desired as a preventive health care since it strengthens the immune system and its ability to help clients’ vast medical issues that cause pain and body dysfunction.
How does CranioSacral Therapy Work? There are not many systems that are more influential to your body’s ability to perform correctly than your brain and spinal cord. These body parts contain the central nervous system – the system that controls all of the body’s thoughts and movements. A big part of the central nervous system is the craniosacral system – the membranes and fluid that surrounds, protects and nourishes the brain as well as the spinal cord.
Every time that your body undergoes the stress and strains of every day life, it must work extra hard to stay healthy, not to mention the work it would need to do if your body is ill. To compensate for these stressors, the body’s tissue often tightens around the craniosacral system, which then alters the delicate system. This change then creates tension surrounding the brain and spinal cord. This could lead to a decrease in functionality of a healthy and normal central nervous system, which would also have a negative effect on all of the other systems that it interacts with and controls.
Fortunately, such changes can be identified and resolved by using this natural therapy. The CranioSacral practitioner employs their fingers to evaluate the system by softly feeling a verity of points and areas on your body to assess the motion and rhythm of the cerebrospinal fluid pulsating near your brain and spinal cord. The practitioner will then use a sequence of gentle touch methods that are used to release the tension in the tissues that were causing a blockage in the craniosacral system.
When the environment around the brain and spinal cord is stabilized, the ability for the body to heal itself is greatly enhanced. This natural practice has had astonishing effects on a vast group of illnesses and dysfunctions, both physical and mental aliments.
